Let’s Run the Race — Janelle Chandler
1 Corinthians 9:21-23
S When I am with the Gentiles who do not follow the Jewish Law, I too live apart from that law so I can bring them to Christ. But I do not ignore the law of God; I obey the law of Christ.
When I am with those who are weak, I share their weakness, for I want to bring the weak to Christ. Yes, I try to find common ground with everyone, doing everything I can to save some. I do everything to spread the Good News and share in its blessing.
O Paul’s submission to Christ and his commitment to sharing the Good News is simply amazing. Paul is willing to live by and with people at their standards to get their attention. The results are they feel accepted and un-judged. His one and only goal is to do what he has to for people to listen and accept the gospel.
A If we all could have just a piece of Paul’s sacrificial service to Christ this world would be a much different world. There is a good reason non-believers feel unwelcome among believers, we make them feel that way. Sharing the Good News should always be a privilege not a duty. It is an honor to share it with everyone. If sharing God’s word is always easy then I am probably not doing it all right. I want to train myself to go straight to the bottom and work my way up not just float on the surface. I want to be able to share in their weaknesses, pains and trials and bring Christ to them. I will ask myself these questions daily: Am I willing to sacrifice my routine or the perception I want people to have of me? Am I willing to step out of my comfort zone? Lastly, am I willing to focus on one goal for the Kingdom?
P Thank you for always making me feel welcome and accepted. Fill me with you Holy Spirit and love of others. Show me how to accept people where they are. Help me to be self-disciplined and stop looking for self-fulfillment or self-satisfaction. I am ready to train diligently and run the race to win the eternal prize. Amen

Great reminder, Janelle! I know what you mean by needing to step out of my comfort zone; sometimes I feel like “They wouldn’t want to hear what I have to say”, when in reality, I have exactly what they need (Christ)!

Dude, great word here. I love the way you said how you wanted to go to the bottom. I think people that don’t know the Lord don’t want to be preached at. They need us to know that we are no better than them and they know this by us serving at the bottom. Great journal entry…this one gets 72 stars!
