Faithfulness — Cynthia Saari
Mark 14: 72
S A second time the rooster crowed. Then Peter called to mind the word that Jesus had said to him, “before the rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times.” And when he thought about it, he wept.
O Jesus had earlier predicted that Peter would deny him, but Peter had promised that no matter what he wouldn’t deny Christ. But sure enough, when a servant girl asked him if he was with Jesus he denied knowing him three different times. Peter was loyal and faithful to Jesus when with him but when Jesus wasn’t around and the stakes were high he pretended not to know him.
A Words mean nothing if we lack integrity. I don’t think Jesus predicted Peter’s denial in order to have a “I told you so moment”. He predicted his denial to show him how much he cares most about our integrity and character. God is concerned with what we do and say when no one is around. I find that it sometimes difficult for me to remain integrious in situations in which I want to please someone. I am challenged with speaking what I think they want me to say and saying (or not saying for that matter) what I really feel in my heart. I know this challenge isn’t nearly as intense as Peter’s actual denial of Christ but it still comes down to the issue of character
P Lord, thank you for this example from Peter’s life for which I can relate to and learn from. Please help me have integrity in all circumstances. I desire to do your will and be faithful to what you’ve called me to. Please remind me and give me the strength to be faithful to only pleasing you instead of others.

Such a great word, Cynthia! This hit home for me as I need to just have an audience of one. Sometimes that makes me unpopular, but I still need to constantly press in to hear His voice and be obedient to Him only. Great reminder for me!!!

“people pleasers” deny the Lord. It’s hard to live with the disapproval of others. Integrity with ourselves is so improtant…I believe peter wept because he denyed the Lord and also because he lack integrity in his own eyes. Thanks for the good word cynthia.
