God’s Glory not Groanings — Michael Gores

John 9:3

S “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life.”

O Typically when an ailment or suffering occurs, one wants to attribute it to being retribution or punishment. The usual “Why me?” response. Often, I am too myopic to understand that many “bad” things can be for a good purpose. My life is a tool, which God freely uses to display his glory.

A I need to divorce myself from my great attachment to my physicality. I could joyfully take part in opportunities to glorify God if I wasn’t so caught up in myself and this life. God will glorify himself despite my attitude. The irony is that by lamenting about a certain suffering, I am actually robbing myself of the joy that I think circumstances have robbed me of. This life is about God’s glory, and I need to watch for it much more.

P Many days I am blinded to you because I am staring at myself. Lift my eyes to se the world around me, and the many ways that I might spread your glory in it with the occasions that seem to be my misfortune.

Amen.

Beautifully put, Michael! We all face trials; it is our choice to allow God to work in us through those trials or wallow in them. The book of James states that it is in our trials that God will make us complete.
