Straight Paths That Heal Lame Limbs — Andy Papendieck

Hebrews 12:12-13

S Therefore, strengthen the hands that are weak and the knees that are feeble, and make straight paths for your feet, so that the limb which is lame may not be put out of joint, but rather be healed.

O Proverbs 4:18 speaks of the path of the righteous being like the light of dawn that shines brighter and brighter. The way of the wicked stands in sharp contrast as a place “like darkness” that causes confused stumbling.

A I have areas of my life that are lame and in process of being healed. If I allow myself to walk on dark, crooked paths these weak areas can be damaged and put out of joint. I find strength in the word of God that cleanses me and speaks powerfully into my life to lift me from my weak, feeble, natural condition. Patience, kindness and a positive, hopeful heart is tough for me as I face a season of adversity in my life. I can tend to break down into a negative attitude and end up with a proverbial “nose out of joint.” ( With a nose my size this can be a problem!) I must pray as David did in Psalm 119:35: … ” make me walk in the path of your commandments, for I delight in it.” I may initially need to be constrained to walk in God’s ways, but in the end I will find delight for my soul as I am fashioned in His likeness, slowly but surely.

P Dear Lord, thank you for the great patience You extend to us as we struggle to make our paths straight in obedience to Your word. Strengthen my “lame limbs” that I may remain on Your narrow way that will bring shining delight to my heart and mind.

Great visual study. The connection of the struggle, healing, and learning phenomenon was so clear with your verses. I will keep this mental picture with me through the holiday, as my attitude generally dictates the atmosphere of our house.
