Receive the Mark of God — Andy Papendieck

Ezekiel 9:4

S The Lord said to him, “Go through the midst of the city, even through the midst of Jerusalem, and put a mark on the foreheads of the men who sigh and groan over all the abominations which are being committed in its midst.”

O To have a heart that is in harmony with the heart of God is a precious, valuable thing. There was a remnant in Jerusalem who were hurting over the dark, evil behavior of those around them. They had aligned themselves with their God and He placed His mark upon them. Their love and devotion to Him and His ways spared them in the day of His judgement.

A The scriptures declare a woe to any who call good evil and evil good. We live in an age where abominations are being committed, yet there is little concern or reaction. I must guard my heart to remain true to God’s heart as revealed in His word. Actions that grieve Him should cause me to sigh and groan. Being daily in his word renews my understanding of His nature, keeping me sensitive to what offends Him. These upright men stayed true to the Lord in the midst of a culture that grieved God to the point of their destruction by His hand. His people must do the same as our culture grows further away from His word.

P Dear Holy God, work Your ways deeper into my heart that I might be sensitive to what pleases You and what hurts You. I want Your mark upon me, keeping me faithful to You, no matter what may be going on around me.
