He Never Lies and is Always Faithful–Robert Gentle

1 John 1:9-10

S If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives.

O The apostle John is laying out the truth right here. Confessing our sins is the key to forgiveness. Jesus promises to purify us when we confess to him. He will deliver us from the unrighteousness. However, we cannot claim to have not sinned (I’m reminded of Romans 3:23 where it says: “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”). If we had not sinned then Jesus would be a liar and everything he ever said or did would be a lie.

A Luckily for me, Jesus is not a liar. I am a sinner and confess it to him. Jesus is always there, no matter what. I can turn to Jesus in all times of sinning, whether it be to prevent me from giving into temptation, to rescue me from the middle of a sin, or to confess to after I’ve sinned (ideally, I would like to always stop before giving into temptation, but my flesh has been known to take over a time or two!). Jesus is always faithful when I confess to him and I must always know that. He will, has, and always will forgive me…as long as I ask.

P Lord, I thank Your for forgiving me every time I ask. Thank You for being faithful in Your promise of forgiveness. Though I cannot say that I have never sinned, I can take comfort in the fact that you have washed my sins away and purified me from the unrighteousness. All praise, glory, and honor belong to You, my Savior! AMEN.

Wow robert, Im sure you are as happy and thankful as I am that All of my sins are forgiven for all time. Im so happy to know that when I come to him and confess my sin, that he cleanses me from all the evil effects of my particular sin. I can thank him for and claim his forgiveness for me. And its not as though I’m coming to Him in hopes that he might forgive me, (that part has already been dealt with when we received him into our lives). Our position in Christ has provided for us so amazingly that we can merely come to Him and confess it and ask him to cleanse us andwash it away. 1. Lord I did it and no body made me do it. 2. Lord I know it was wrong and I dont want to be that way, 3. Help me by your grace, power and strength combined with my obedience to live in this area of my life as you would have me.
    God Bless!
