Speaking with God - MCalabrese
1 Samual 1:16-17
S “Do not take your maidservant for a worthless woman; all this time I have been speaking from the depth of my grief and my resentment.” Then Eli answered her: ‘Go in peace,” he said ‘ and may the God of Israel Grant what you have asked of him.’
O Hanna was bitter, she had no children of her own and her co-wife would taunt her at her loss. Even though her husband loved her so, the bitterness crept into her. So while at the temple she prays.
A Wow, to pray with “bitterness, with “resentment.” Yahweh remembers her, answers her prayer. Why would such a prayer be answered? She prayed from the depth of her grief and resentment. She was honest, she spole from her soal.
This is what I need to do, speak honestly in my prayers. Speak how I feel, how I think, still trusting in God and allowing for His will.
P Father, Glory be your name. Help me be that open to you. Let me speak from the depth of my soal. let me be honest with myself, so I can be honest with you.
